Our Baby Girl

Nope.... not having a baby. But this little pup of ours is our baby girl.

She is spoiled rotten. She has her own bed outside and one inside as well. She has many toys to play with and is walked twice daily.

Thankfully, she is very well behaved and is disciplined. Compared to her puppy friend up the road, she is a gem. Her friend doesn't listen at all....

I must say it is nice to have a dog around, especially when Barney is working or not home. They are just good to have around

Life Update

Its been made official with the booking of our flights....

I will be home from July 9-18! Still not sure where else we will be going in Europe, but now Belgium is on the list because Coldplay, along with Kings of Leon and Bon Jovi will be playing at a music festival so we might go there.

In other news...

I had my medical testing for my visa this past week and all went smoothly. I am just waiting to get my results back so I can finish up the paper work and send it off! We have to have everything taken care of by the end of February so this should leave us enough time. Hopefully all goes well and I can actually attend my own wedding in March.

Wedding stuff is going well. I don't have much left to do. I tried to take care of all the little details as early as possible since we find ourselves working everyday now that its summer here. Everything should come together nicely.

We are also meeting with our wedding photographer on Monday to go through our engagement shoot pictures, which was actually our legal ceremony. I'm so excited to see them and promise to post some up here and on facebook as well once we get them.

Honeymoon

We have pretty much decided on where we are going to honeymoon/travel later this year.

Stop #1: Singapore. We wanted to go to southeast asia for a real honeymoon so this is where we will be going. We will probably stay between 5-7 days there, depends on how much interests us. We had no reason to go here besides the fact that our around the world flight stops here. Works for us!

Stop #2: Munich. Also not on our list but our flight goes there as well. We wanted to go to Amsterdam to visit Barney's cousin there. We will probably take the train to Amsterdam and a few other places, than fly to Greece for a few days as well. Any suggestions of where to go? We are not going to the UK as I'v been to London and Barney has no desire to go. I've been to Italy, Austria and Germany so I would love to go to France, Holland, southern Italy and Greece. Ambitious, but we'll see. We might spend 2-3 weeks there.




Stop #3: LA/Vegas. We won't be spending any time in LA as there is no appeal there for us, but we will mostly likely head straight to Vegas to see my sister, her husband and their new little boy Benjamin who I have yet to meet. There are unable to travel outside of the US right now due to visa's so we'll go to them instead.

Stop #4: Vancouver!! It's going to be so great to see the family again and spend time in the city I enjoy so much. We are planning on having a reception sort of thing when we are there for all of the family that couldn't (understandably) make it to Australia.

And last but not least, back to Sydney. We were hoping to stop in Hong Kong as well to visit Barney's brother who lives there, but he might be in Australia anyways so hopefully we will see him there.

We are planning on being away for 4-5 weeks depending on what we can get off. Hopefully closer to 5.. maybe even 6 if we can push our luck at work :) The best part: the cost of a set around the world flight is pretty much the same as a return ticket to Vancouver. Why not?!

I am very much looking forward to travelling again. I'm anxious to go to South America/Antarctica so I can finish off seeing all the continents but that will just have to wait for now!

Small Town Life

I don't really know the population of where I live here but its pretty small. Bigger than Houston BC, smaller than Prince George.

I'm very blessed to call Salamander Bay home. I love that for most of the year, its peaceful. I have so much beauty around me and the ocean on my door step. Well, its across the street anyways. Barney, Jessie (our pup) and I can always find places to explore and never run into anyone. Its beautiful.

But....

This time of year drives me a little crazy. The locals call it "Silly Season", not only in converstation between each other, but its also referred to as that in the local newspaper as well. And for good reason.

We are a town primarily based on toursim. Thousands of people flock here during the summer, mostly arriving from Sydney. No one drives the speed limit, even though its only 50km/hr. People park wherever they feel like it, even if illegal. The shops and supermarkets are filled with people walking slower than local seniors. We even do our grocery shopping at 8am now just for that very reason. Many people party loud into the night. Drink to much which leads into fights and other problems. Our peaceful little town just gets turned upside down.

Yes, I get more hours at work at this time of year which is great for the paycheck but now that we are halfway through 'silly season', I'm ready for the peace and quiet once again.

I Miss My City

I miss Vancouver.

A friend recently posted a video from youtube that showed Canada's reaction to winning the gold medal in Mens Hockey. The only thought that crossed my mind was "I miss the white and the red"

I miss Vancouver, the city I grew up in. I miss working on the ocean, overlooking snow capped mountains. I miss living in a city all together.

Thankfully, I can look forward to seeing it all in 6 months or so, when I will be home to see my family and celebrate my marriage once again.
