Moving On

It's time to say goodbye to hot, stinky, beautiful southeast asia. We have had a lovely time here with many entertaining stories and adventures. We are spending the day in Sandakan in Borneo. It's not the most beautful place we have been to and we don't feel all that safe. We did have a great hotel last night for cheap. It also had a rooftop restaurant where we had dinner and looked out over the ocean which was nice. We will be going back there after we're done computing for lunch since we feel a bit safer up there.

Yesterday we went to an orangutan rehabilitation centre where they have released orphaned orangutans back into the wild. They call them semi-wild because of that situation. They offer them food twice a day so we got to go to the first feeding. Apparently they often don't come get the food so we didn't have our hopes up. Thankfully, after about 10 minutse, a mother with her baby came and ate for quite a while. We were beginning to leave after waiting for about an hour, when another female who was pregnant came to eat some fruit. Just minutes after she came, another young female came as well. All in all, we saw 4! Definitly better than seeing none at all. They are quite amazing creatures.

Tonight we will fly back to Kuala Lumpur where we will stay for the night. Tomorrow morning we are going to the famous Petronas towers (the twin towers of asia) than will head back to the airport to fly to Singapore, than on to Munich. Once we arrive in Munich we fly straight to Venice where we will stay for 3 days before making our way down to Rome. I have been to Venice before and I am so excited to go back and explore some more.

We're so blessed to have had a great time on our holiday so far. The weather has been great and we've experienced so much in such little time.

Now its time to move on to our next adventure.... Europe!

Southeast Asia

Wow...

Its been an amazing few days we have had here. We started in Singapore for 2 days and had a great time. The city is so easy to navigate so we just jumped on trains and buses to get our way around. We went up to the top of the Marina Bay Sands hotel and got amazing views of the city. They even have an infinitly pool at the top. Scary for sure! Google it... its amazing. We also went to the Singapore Zoo and I must admit, its probably the best zoo I have ever been too. So much to see and all the animal enclosures allow that there is no high fencing so you can see everything really great, besides the jaguar because they're tree climbers :)

After Singapore, we flew to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, transferred airports and made our way to Tioman Island. We had to sleep overnight in the airport, but it was closed, so I slept in a 24hr McDonalds. Not comfortable at all!

Tioman Island was amazing. We crossed the island to a place called Juara where we stayed for a night. We had the beach to ourselves and stayed in a hut on the beach. I mostly stayed in the hammock and read my book. Oh the life.... The next day we crossed the island and went to ABC beach. It was busier here but we still had a cottage on the beach. We went snorkelling and just relaxed.

We've now returned to KL and have explored the city a bit. We walked through the shopping centre today and someone told us not to go down the stairs because there was a shooting going on. I was freaking out and saw a guy running up the stairs. With my heartrate through the roof, Barney tapped me on the shoulder and told me they were shooting a movie. Haha... wow I felt dumb. Thankfully it was just a movie!!

The next few days we will spend here in KL than we will be off to Borneo for two nights to visit an orangutan rehabilitation centre as well as a probiscus monkey rehab centre which should be fun. After that its back to Singapore where we catch a flight to Munich... than off to explore Europe some more. Can't wait!!

Rhodna

See the pink bike in the rubbish pile? That's Rhodna. I got her from the recycing centre for $10 about 2 years ago complete with basket and bell. She got her name after I weird dream I had about someone named Rhodna. She has served me well, but alas, it was time to let her go.

The council is currently doing the annual clean-up so we can get rid of whatever and they pick it up and trash it. All the stuff we put out, including a broke washing machine, oven, laundry tub, ab machine and Rhodna was collected in about 15 minutes by some random guy. He said he collects steal and metal to resell.

One mans trash is another mans treasure.

In other news, it has been really cold lately. Its been dropping to 5 degrees at night and when you dont have heat, its cold! Thankfully the sun heats the house during the day. At night, we layer and bundle up.

In this case, we curled up under the covers and played a game of crib while Jessie kept me warm. I won the game. :)




Man, she's spoiled but oh, so cute!

Potential

Today has the potential to be a big day for me, for us. I'm nervous and excited.

Unfortunatly, I can't elaborate any further quite yet.

Funny Pup

We were doing yardwork the other day and Jessie decided to jump in the back of the truck and watch us from there. Silly girl...

I think she had other intentions. I'm sure she wanted to go for a drive but she was stuck at home, watching us rake leaves.
