Happy Birthday Myles!

I am writing his one year post quite late but Myles got sick on his birthday with a throat infection, was better for a few days, then we all had a stomach virus. We are all nearly 100% better so here I am!

Myles' one year stats are:

Weight: 10.7kg or 23.5lbs
Height: 75cm or 29.5"

He is a solid boy who loves exploring and climbing. He is happiest when he is outside playing in the yard, going on his swing or playing in the ocean at the beach. He has learnt how to climb on the couch by himself but jumps off so has to be supervised well. He only says "mama". The nurse we saw told us to keep an eye on his speech but I don't see any problems. If we try to get him to say something else, he smirks and runs away. He is a cheeky boy! Myles has the best laugh. He loves chasing Jessie and running away from her too. Jessie doesn't appreciate it but tolerates him well.

He has become a great sleeper thankfully! He usually goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 and sleeps until 6:30-7:00. Most nights he will sleep through unless he is sick. The nights have been getting cool so we are trying to find what is the best thing to dress him in for bed to keep him warm but not sweating. He is still napping twice most days. He naps at 10am and again around 3pm. Some days, like yesterday he will nap late and just have one big sleep. Yesterday he napped from 11:30 - 2:30pm and was asleep at 7:30. He gets a bottle before bed, a story then he is in bed and falls asleep well by himself. My days of rocking him to sleep are long gone and I couldn't be more grateful! I have so much more time to be productive since bedtime takes so much less time.

Overall, we have a great son! He is happy most of the time although he has been a bit sensitive since being sick.

We love you Myles and can't believe you are one! You are sweet, loving and we are so blessed to have you in our lives.

House Renovations

We live in a very small house. Barney and I don't even have a real bedroom and sleep in what used to be the veranda but is now the room you walk into when coming into the house. Although we will not be changing that situation, we are extending our kitchen!

The original kitchen:

Two years ago, we got a new kitchen put in. We got new cupboards, oven, tiled backsplash and a new coat of paint! It really made a big difference and we have been loving all the extra storage, especially now we have a child.

Last week, the extension of our kitchen began! We will finally be able to have a kitchen table that fits us all and we are going to get a dishwasher. It is so exciting :)

All the frame work will be done until we go away. Once we are away on holidays, they will take down the wall, redo the ceilings and finish the extension. It will be great to see once we are home! We will be putting new flooring in as well because our corkboard flooring is a little outdated to say the least. Then, we will put some fresh paint on the walls and it will all be done.

We are hoping to buy a house in the new future which we will use as an investment property until our children our in school and we are both working full time again. We are just waiting to find the right house for us!

Well, I am off to take Myles to the doctor for his next round of vaccines and his 1 year check up. I'll do his one year post soon!

Myles' First Birthday Party

Enjoy some pictures of Myles' party! We had a great day with great friends and Myles got spoilt rotten.

The theme was Giggle and Hoot off his favourite cartoon and was mostly just blue and orange.

I will do his 1 year update next week after we visit the doctor for his shots. We went today but he was too sick to get them so we'll go back next week!
