The weekend before Christmas, my cousin Michaela came to visit! We had a lovely visit together and it was nice to catch up as we haven't seen each other in many years. She is currently living in Jakarta working as a teacher. We did all the touristy stuff and thankfully we had nice weather. We climbed our local "mountain" (about an hour round trip with a break at the top) and I struggled! Probably not a good idea at 30 weeks pregnant.
For the two days after our climb, I didn't feel the baby move at all, so on Christmas eve I went to the doctor to get checked. As soon as the nurse put the Doppler on my belly he started kicking away and hasn't stopped since. Cheeky little boy!
We also had a beach bbq and cooked trout, had fresh prawns and potato salad. Yum! On our last night with Michaela we went for a walk to check out the Christmas lights. One of the perks of having a warm summer is you don't need to get bundled up or stay in the car :)
We had a low key Christmas as I had to work in the morning. After work we drove to Toronto, a small town where Barney's aunt lives. We had a lovely and relaxed visit with his family. We were home before 8pm the opened presents with the two of us. It was a nice day considering I still had to work. Next year I wont have to work... yay!
We have been given so much baby stuff from friends which has been such a blessing. I spent a weekend washing all of the clothes and sorting them by size, then putting them away in storage containers. My work also gave me a $200 gift card as a Christmas gift so most of the other baby stuff we bought with that. We still have a few things to get but I am feeling much better about our preparation now!
And finally a question for mums out there... what are some "must have" things to have for a newborn/me and also, any must haves to pack in the hospital bag?? Any advice is much appreciated :)
