Sleep

About two weeks ago we decided to get rid of Myles' bottles and I am so glad we did! He now gets a sippy cup of milk at meal times instead.

His sleep has dramatically improved because of two things. First, getting rid of the bottles. Now that he knows he doesn't get them anymore, he has been sleeping through the night since the day we stopped. There has been two nights where he woke for a dummy but that takes less than a minute so its not too bad.

The second thing that has helped is getting rid of yogurt in the afternoons/evenings. I had read somewhere that yogurt for whatever reason can cause night wakings. We used to give him one after dinner but since stopping that his sleep is better too. Last night we decided to test the theory and gave him one after dinner and guess what? He woke up crying through the night. I had to go in, give him a cuddle and read him a story before putting him back into bed.

(Look how little he was taking his first bottle!)

It has been about two weeks of him sleeping through the night and it is great! The only thing we need to sort out now is him going to bed at night. He happily goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 but for the last week or so he hasn't been falling asleep until after 9pm. He doesn't cry, just lays there and occasionally talks to himself. I don't know if we should cut back the length of his nap or just leave it. It doesn't seem to affect him during the day so I think we might just leave it. I need him to have good naps so I can get stuff done or nap too :)
