Oblique

I am 39+2 weeks pregnant and baby is now lying oblique. This is slightly better than transverse but still not great. It means that he is sitting with his head on my hip bone and his bum pushes out just past my belly button and his limbs are curled up towards my back. I had to google it because I didn't even know what it meant! It definitely explains the pain I get on the inside of my hip.

Do you like my drawing below? You can actually see my belly angles slightly up to the right where is bum always sticks out.

It means that he is closer to head down so once labour starts or my water breaks, he could turn down and I could have a natural birth. I have been told as soon as either happens, I am to go straight to the hospital to assess his position. If he is still oblique then I will have an immediate C-section to avoid risking the cord coming out first. If he is head down then I can labour naturally.

For now I just wait and see what happens! We are so excited to meet him!!

And a few pictures of his half of the room that we just redid. It used to be so dark but is much brighter now. It took a lot of rearranging to make it work because it is such a narrow space but we managed! I'm very happy with how it turned out. I must add, I got that leather recliner chair that looks brand new for $45 from our local recycling centre.. bargain!

(Yes we have windows between rooms. This room used to be the veranda and when they added the extension long before we lived here, they didn't frame it in. There is also a window between Myles' room and our half of this room)
