Back from Kabwe

Well, we have just returned from Kabwe, up in the Copperbelt. We completed 64 interviews over the last week and I am exhausted. Some of the homes we went to were about 1 hour drive into the middle of the bush. We were in the middle of nowhere walking through mud up to our ankles. It was definitly an adventure. Its been overcast for the last week which has been a nice change. Winter here is coming soon, so it gets cooler. Its weird because I get cold when its like 20 degrees out!

I was supposed to go to Livingstone today, but we were too tired, so we are going to go in the next few weeks. We are going to see the falls, go on a safari and potenially go elephant riding! It will be good to be a tourist for a while.

When we were in Kabwe, one little girl touched my heart. Her name is Agness and she is 5. Her mom is dying of Meningitis and she is very ill herself. She came to stay with us one night, so we gave her a hot bath and a good meal. The next day we took her to the clinic where she got some medicine. She also got HIV testing done too. I dont know what the results are, but I have a feeling it might be positive just because she is so sick. It seems so unfair that a little 5 year old is so sick and is about to lose her only living parent. I fell in love with this little girl and I wanted to take her home with me!

Some sad news is that Kimmer's mom just had a miscarriage. So the last 2 days have been hard and we have been crying and praying together. The amazing thing is that her family is rejoicing in the fact that the little one has gone to Heaven. They are such a strong family.

Thats about all thats new for now. I continue to enjoy my time here. Everyday we learn or experience something new. I have definitly grown in every aspect of my life and just look to tomorrow to see what God has in store for us! God Bless
