I am now back to writing about my day to day adventures since all the partying for my birthday is done. :)
Today we went around Kalingalinga, the area I live in, visiting more of the sponsored orphans. 2 girls touched my heart today. The first one, Jane, we had interviewed previously, but we went to see how she was doing today because she was sick before. When we got there she didnt look well at all. She explained that she was having bad chest problems and needed a chest x-ray immediatly. She is also HIV positive. When you are HIV positive, if you have a chest problem, its the worst. If you have that, then it increases chance of dying quicker. We are taking her to the hospital on Friday for treatment. She is the most precious girl and I just pray that she will be healed.
The second girl, Gertrude, has a really sad story, yet she rejoices how God has pulled her through. She lost her parents when she was young and lived with an aunt who didnt want anything to do with her. She was always being kicked out of the house. It just wasnt a good living condition. Gertrude's life changed when she got pregnant last year. She went to live with the father of her unborn child since her aunt kicked her out. She is 18, the father is 22. She lived there for 2 weeks until she had a dream. At this time she was about 3 1/2 months pregnant. She dreamt one night that she was having stomach pains (even though she wasnt in real life) and 2 women tried giving her pills to ease the pain, but she refused, until they forced them down. When she woke up from her dream, she had stomach pains and shortly after, she miscarried the baby. She kept the unborn child in a dish in her room until 6pm, then she got rid of it. This is a reality of life down here and it eats at my heart. Gertrude told me that she was happy and sad at the same time when she got pregnant. She was happpy that she was going to have a baby, but sad because she had disappointed God. I believe that God has a time for everything and it was not Gertrudes time to be a mother. She is only in grade 8 and has her whole life ahead of her.
All I ask when I share these stories is that you pray for these people and all people around the world who are going through things that we may never comprehend. We must show Gods love to the broken people that we are surrounded by. All we can do is show them Gods love and God will finish the rest in accordance to His will.
The next 2 days we are going to be finishing the case files of all of the sponsored orphans in this area. On Saturday, our boss who lives in the US is coming, so it will be back to meetings and more meetings! Sunday we are also having a day of prayer and fasting which should be interesting!
Take Care everyone!

When asked what the greatest commandment was, Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
that was a hearty amen Lynn.
Wow Lynn, those stories impact me as well and I haven't even met those people. I can't imagine how real everything is for you. I am praying for you while you're down there, as well as for the people that are experiencing the poverty and hardships like these two girls.
