House of Moses

Today was an interesting day to say the least. We left early to do 3 interviews in an area of town called Achievers. On our way home, we were in a traffic circle and a minibus (little pieces of junk that make up the bus system) decided to drive straight into us. So from there we went down to the police station to file the report and give our statements. So we came home after that and hung out here until we went to House of Moses, an orphanage for babies!

House of Moses was amazing. First we were downstairs playing with the kids that are about 6-18 months old. There are 10 kids in total. They were so sweet and wouldnt stop climbing all over us. It was a blast!! We also had a huge box full of baby toys donated to us, so we brought a bunch of toys and books over for the kids. They mostly ate them instead of playing with them, but they are so cute you cant stop them! Following that we went upstairs to the newborn room. There were 9 kids in this room, the oldest being 3 months and the youngest being just 10 days old! There were 3 around the age of 2 weeks old, all abandoned at the hospital where they were born. These were premies so they were kept in incubators. During the time they were in there thats when their mothers fled the hospital, not wanting anything to do with their own children. It is so heartbreaking. We ended up being there during a feeding, so we got to feed the babies, even the little 10 day old!

Overall it was a good day and those little ones just broke my heart. The exciting thing is that some of the children in My Fathers House are originally from there and we take kids from there to put in our orphan homes. The adoption rate from this place has sky rocketed and kids are just coming and going from there. It is truely a blessing that God has given them a good home to grow up in. Another great thing is that these kids are being adopted not only by North American families, but from a lot of Zambian families as well. God is doing amazing things here!!!!

Visiting these children really made me want to adopt one day. The best gift you can ever give these kids is a chance at life. When Gods timing is right, I will take one as my own, God willing of course. I love these children... its almost too hard to put into words.
