Birthday Boy Cooper
So a few weeks ago, we got together at the dog beach and had a birthday party for our friends dog Cooper who just turned 8. He got an apple birthday cake and all. I note that I probably would not make our Jessie a birthday cake but the dogs loved it and it was a great day for hanging out with friends.
I must say that it is nice to have dogs off leash and have them all get along well. Ever since Barney got Jessie, we have never put her on a leash. Some people don't like it (and openly express it) but we know her temperament and she won't harm anyone. She is very social and just likes to say hello. If people complain we will put her on a leash and thankfully she behaves well on it.
In others news, I have started to make Australia even more of a home. I have been approved for the government medical cover, got my Australian driver's license but I am still waiting to hear back from immigration. I hope that I hear from them before we leave for our trip around the world so I know that I can get back into Australia when I arrive without any problems.
The temperature has rapidly dropped here and we can feel winter sneaking up on us. It's really only bad at night. We don't have central heating (or any heating) so its all about layering and wrapping up in blankets. I can even see my breath inside the house as I write. It makes our holiday sound that much better since it will be much warmer everywhere we go.
We have decided to go to Singapore, Malaysia and Borneo where we will visit an orangutan rehab center. In Europe we will visit Prague, Munich, Amsterdam and various cities in Italy. Finally, we will visit LA, Vegas (to meet my nephew!) and back to Vancouver to visit all the family and visit another nephew that I have yet to meet. One month until we leave!!!
I will leave you with that... I have been trying to blog more often so hopefully I can keep it up!
Cheers
This last photo was taken at a local beach where Jessie can swim in the tide pools.

lynn. crazy you dont have heating. thats nuts. if it makes you feel better... we have hardly any heating in our upstairs. 2 of the inside walls are insulated and then it has one register for 4 bedrooms. Ahhh the life of a 100 year old house :) loved the update. :) Super excited for you & barneys trip!
